How it works

A calmer way to agree on a name.

No more vetoing each other’s favourites across the kitchen table. You each swipe privately; only the names you both love surface.

1

Swipe, privately

Right to like, left to pass, up for later. Neither of you sees the other’s swipes.

2

Link with your partner

Share one code and your lists connect. You each swipe on your own, and the names you both love rise to the top.

3

Meet your matches

When you both like the same name it becomes a match, and you can be told the moment it happens. Decide from names you already agree on.

The app itself

Not a mockup.

Screens from the build running on a phone right now.

Why Tasmiya

The names are the point, so we got them right.

Baby-name sites copy each other and cite no one. Some even list names with meanings no parent would knowingly choose. Tasmiya starts from the sources instead.

Verified, not scraped

Every meaning is drawn from classical lexicons like Lisān al-ʿArab and Lane, and any ruling shown traces to a named scholar. The citations are in the app, one tap away.

The story, not just a word

Flip any card for the root, the pronunciation, and the story: the Companion who carried the name, or the verse where it appears.

Easy in English, too

A filter for names that stay beautiful and simple to say in Western classrooms. A real worry, treated as one.

Honest about its size

The library holds 333 verified names today: Prophets’ names, Companions, Qurʼanic and classical Arabic names. It grows as each new name passes the full check. We would rather be small and right than large and copied.
